Vanity went retro on promising stars

Remember when I posted the photograph of Kate Mara and I asked you what it triggered in your mind?

Well, you were exactly right, it's like a vintage pin-up pic from the fifties... so I found out that this wasn't the only photo out there of this style. There's actually a series, which I knew I guess.

So here is a selection of the line of work by various photographers.

Mila Kunis

Carla Gugino

Kristen Bell

Leslie Mann

Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Ultimate Collector's Editions this fall!!

I kind of happy that I still haven't bought I Am Legend and 300... I've been postponing the purchases since the releases on DVD. As a result I might regret that I didn't go for the steelbooks at the very beginning. But it seems that I did it for a reason (besides the HD switch), a very nice surprise is actually coming our way.

"Apparently driven by the success of last year's Blade Runner and Harry Potter box sets, Warner has just revealed a number of new DVD and Blu-ray Disc box sets due later this year (both from Warner and also HBO). As it happens, we've got some early details for you, as well as an exclusive first look at the packaging and artwork for nearly all of them. Street dates and exact specs aren't yet available, but here's a sneak peek at some of what's planned for release in the fourth quarter of this year (official announcements will follow in the weeks ahead)..."

A while ago, when the Blade Runner case was announced I instantly pre-ordered the bad boy, and still haven' regret the best buy of last year. So these could make excellent gifts for the holidays again!

If I had to choose between a steelbook, a lenticular cover or this gift set... I think this a no-brainer.

"As for more recent live action fare, an I Am Legend: Ultimate Collector's Edition box set will be available on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc, and will include an alternate version of the film with the "controversial ending," all-new special features such as a new filmmaker commentary, deleted scenes, "iconic" premium collectible items and more."

"Also, a 300: Limited Collector's Edition box set will be available this fall on DVD only, as a special box set including all the previous DVD extras along with two new documentaries (Recreating the Spartan Era and 300: Legend Filtered Through History, Graphic Novel and Film), as well as other exclusive memorabilia (a lenticular hologram, artwork cards and more). The reason it's DVD only? The studio tells us that a much more elaborate Blu-ray Disc version is currently in production for release in 2009, complete with new BD-Live and Bonus View content. It's tentatively set for about mid-year, so watch it to arrive in stores about a year from now. We'll have more details as they become available."

Face Your Manga

Join the new fad! Well, not too many of you. :p

The stylized, ideal version of me... kind of. I'm cuter and way more handsome in real life. ^_^

Update: Aaaaargh, damn it, you bunch of mindless sheep... you've ruined it. Not fun anymore, thanks a lot.

iPod Nano-Chromatic

The new iPod Nano was introduced by Steve Jobs this week and as always a new ad comes along with it. That bubbly song is Bruises by Chairlift.

For me this the first time the Nano is actually being considered to update my iPod Video besides the iPhone... this is the 4th gen already. I miss white though, I still hate the matte K, I kinda like the bright C-M-Y, but the metallic suits the new series better.

Lookalikeness Vol. 2

After the Gordon-Levitt - Ledger issue I'm also kind of intrigued that singer Katy Perry looks somewhat like actress Zooey Deschanel... can you see the big difference? This is one of those stupid things I do when bored...

If you've seen Elf and HHGTTG you'd know Zooey has that appeal and is abnormally lovable. Perry does nothing but tickle your curiosity whether she'd french or just plainly sucks the face of another girl in front of you.

Eerie isn't it? And a blond Zooey looks from a certain angle like a brushed Hilarie Burton...
