Somehow this got banned...

Love it though.

Philips 42PFL5603D

We got ourselves a brand new TV, because our faithful crt television refused to work any longer. A pity, but after seeing this beauty at a very friendly price, I knew I needed to buy this 42" LCD... It's not just a looker, but it's very eco-friendly as well. So what am I to say to an extremely good-looking piece of technology that is designed to respect the environment as a conscious designer?

At the store it didn't appeared so big, but at home I was wondering why the hell I bought such a ridiculously humongous screen for... but I think I'll get used to it. :-p
Even though the blacks and the contrast aren't that fantastic, which can be very well corrected with the right settings, this  Philips convinces me in its overall performance and options (which are plenty)... the only thing I regret is that it's not an Ambilight. ^^

I've already tested it with Transformers, and the one thought I had was: "Wow, so this is home cinema", although I've had a great sound system for years now. I even started to wonder why I didn't get one sooner... oh yeah the price thingie! (But that's no longer an excuse since the price drop last year.) I might want to get some Blu-rays and a player for that now, perhaps a PS3. No, now I'm pushing it. HD content will be introduced in our home soon.

"One of the most impressive HDTVs launched at this year's CES was the Philips 42PFL5603D 42-inch LCD, which promptly won the “Best In Show” award. The Philips 42PFL5603D/27 not only looks amazing and easily stands apart from the general looking HDTVs but also has some serious features and specifications behind it’s good looks.

The Philips 42PFL5603D has a large 42-inch full HD 1080p LCD screen for a full 1920×1080 pixels for the very highest HD format, and boost the lowest power consumption for a HDTV this size by far. Philips is calling the 42PFL5603D an Eco TV, as it very energy efficient, by using just 75 watts during operation, and only 0.15 watts during standby. An average HDTV of this size, or even smaller typically uses anywhere between 175-300 watts. Other environmentally friendly features include lead free components and recycled packaging."

Miami Ad School

It seems that the celebrated Miami Ad School is coming to Belgium finally! I'm seriously considering going there, since it's probably the greatest creative boost you can have initially. Going abroad is too much sacrifice and financially impossible, so I'm kind of excited about this.

My heroes. For real. Laughed my ass off... so worth it, I've even written this acronym out.

Frank Stockton

I stumbled upon an illustration in The New Yorker accompanying TNY review of the latest Batman vehicle... I thought it was just simply amazing. Then I found out it was from the gifted illustrator Frank Stockton. Wow.

In the dark of night?

Ooooh, lookie lookie at the pwetty lights. I'm wondering whether it's Chicago (where most of the shooting was done) or Hong Kong (where the movie wrapped).

Quantum of Solace

Ain't Craig as Bond a bad motherfucker?

I'm looking forward to this... Casino Royale was astonishingly down to earth.

GQ: Tie me up, tie me down

While I'm getting more and more convinced that he could be a potential Joker... I'd just want to let you see how cool he seems to be, that kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun. GQ's photograph series with the 90ies supermodel Claudia Schiffer being sexy, while he's acting all dandy.

Got milk, Batman?

Cooool... moldable teens! The dark knight drinks that icky, white cow secretion. Just like Superman, the incredible Hulk and other superheroes... they don the milk mustache. No wonder they're soooo strong.

Lookalikeness Vol. 1 - NY Times Screentest: Gordon-Levitt

A young actor who reminds me of Heath Ledger in a way, in facial features like the strong jaw and the eyes is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Brick is his probably his most interesting film for me... neo-noir, Hardboiled story in a high school setting, very cool.

My point to point this out is if Christopher Nolan ever considers to bring back the Joker in (hopefully) his third installment of Batman... G-L should be the one to go with, while they never seemed to have a problem changing Katie Holmes' part for Maggie Gyllenhaal.
But Heath Ledger just owned The Dark Knight in a way we've never seen before, it was mesmerizing and over the top haunting.
