The Obamamania Aftermath

"In modern America, anyone who attempts to write satirically about the events of the day finds it difficult to concoct a situation so bizarre that it may not actually come to pass while his article is still on the presses."
- Calvin Trillin

"It is difficult not to write satire"
- Juvenal

"All the satires of the stage should be viewed without discomfort. They are public mirrors, where we are never to admit that we see ourselves; one admits to a fault when one is scandalized by its censure."
- Molière

"Satire must not be a kind of superfluous ill will, but ill will from a higher point of view. Ridiculous man, divine God. Or else, hatred against the bogged-down vileness of average man as against the possible heights that humanity might attain."
- Paul Klee

I see the humour in it, but as the aura of Obama is larger than life, so are the issues he and his administration are facing. Surely on the short term he'll disappoint, while cleaning the frat boy's mess... HOPEfully on the long term he'll or rather we'll achieve everything he has promised in his beautiful rhetoric. Although that's quite utopian. But when was the last time a politician really inspired people unto the verge of adoration...? Surely I step aside for that matter, but if that means people standing up and taking action, taking responsibility and really pushing for CHANGE and PROGRESS, I'll run with it for a while.
